The Purview of Parliament Malaysia
The All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) was established on 17 October 2019 following a proposal in Parliament by the late YB Datuk Liew Vui Keong, then Law Minister. It serves as a platform for Members of Parliament from both the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara to discuss public interest issues and collaborate with civil society, academia, and the private sector. At the same time, APPGM-SDG was formed with Professor Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria as Head of the Secretariat, and a Society was registered under the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on 7 January 2020 to manage government grants and administrative matters.
YB Maria Chin was appointed as the first Chair of APPGM-SDG, with YB Dato Nancy Shukri as Deputy. Following a change in government in 2020, YB Dato Sri Rohani Abdul Karim became Chair, while YB Maria Chin assumed the role of Deputy. After the dissolution of the 14th Parliament on 10 October 2022, the Society for the Promotion of SDGs continued operating as a caretaker Secretariat until 21 March 2023.
With the 15th Parliament, APPGM was re-established on 21 March 2023, as announced by YB Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. APPGM-SDG was also reconstituted, with YB Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis as Chair and YB Dato Saifuddin Abdullah as Deputy, while the Society for the Promotion of SDGs continued its role as the Secretariat.

APPGM-SDG 2025 Annual Report: Enhancing Inclusivity and Sustainability
Over the past six years, we have refined a grounded research methodology. This report shows our ongoing mission to bridge the gap between national policymaking and targeted local development, translating the United Nations’ global goals into real, measurable changes for everyday Malaysians across 28 parliamentary constituencies mapped in 2025 alone, bringing our cumulative total to 143 parliamentary constituencies from 2020 to 2025.
Moving beyond traditional reporting, the 2025 Annual Report advocates for a paradigm shift toward multidimensional grassroots solutions and robust district-level governance.
Sustainable development is most powerful when it is data-driven, bipartisan, and entirely locally-led. Explore the report to see how community voices are shaping the future of Malaysia’s sustainable growth.
